Hi, I'm Darren, the heart and soul behind Lune Weddings. With over two decades of experience in the art of photography, I specialise in capturing the unique beauty and emotion in every moment.

My journey into photography began over two decades ago, when I picked up my first camera. My father was an avid film photographer and keeper of memories, so my home was full of photo albums. Somewhere in those pages, I understood what photographs are really for.

I’m driven by a desire to preserve the fleeting, ephemeral moments that make life so special. My passion goes beyond just taking pictures, I create visual narratives that reflect the true essence of your most cherished memories.

At Lune Weddings, our philosophy is simple — create beautiful, timeless and authentic images that reflect the unique story of our couples.

I truly believe that photography should be an enjoyable and comfortable experience, which is why I take the time to really get to know you and connect with your vision, so that on the day, I feel like just a friend, not just your ‘photographer’.

How i work

As your third wheel for the day, it's important that we connect. I’ll be there with you every step, bringing a calm and supportive presence to an often chaotic day. My job is not just to capture the day, it’s to also make sure you feel relaxed and have fun along the way, which always results in beautiful photographs.

From the time I arrive, I’m always reading the room, anticipating and capturing every moment. From the ones you remember vividly, to the ones might have missed – every stolen glance and every nervous laugh.

01‍ ‍avid TRAVELler

Before I started capturing love stories, my inspiration came from travel photography. I love creating photographs that have the power to transport me back to the feeling of a place — the ambiance, sounds, smells, colours, emotions and everything ineffable but so viscerally real about memories.

02 dog dad

On the odd weekend off, you’ll find me exploring new corners, hikes and cafés of Melbourne with Nimbus, my Bichon Frisé who is convinced he's a much larger dog than he actually is. I groom him myself, so I know he's mostly just fluff.

03 MUSIC IS LIFE

Throughout my life, music has always been a powerful force for inspiration. You’ll always find me with music on in the background, especially when I’m editing wedding galleries. I find the right music helps me immerse fully into the emotions of an image, and I hope that my couples feel the same when they look at them too.

04 bonsai LOVER

When I put my camera down, you’ll often find me tending to my bonsai collection. Observing and caring for these small trees have taught me much about life, most of all — patience, consistent effort and an eye for details others might walk past. Nimbus supervises.

We begin with a chat to discuss your vision for the day. Virtually, over coffee, or even a glass of wine, if that tickles your fancy.

As your third wheel for the day, it’s important that we get to know each other. I want to know who you are, your story and what matters most to you.

The better I know your story, the more honestly I can tell it.

PLANNING SESSION

4 to 6 weeks from the wedding day, we’ll have a planning session.

Together, we map out the day, so that nothing is left to chance — locations, details, timeline, .

As the day draws near, I’ll touch base again to go through everything one more time and answer any burning questions you may have.

That way, when the day comes, you arrive feeling relaxed, prepared and ready to enjoy every single moment of it.

Your BIG Day

On the day itself, I always arrive early to scout the location, conditions, starting with details and gently easing you into the experience.

I move quietly and unobtrusively throughout most of the day, gently providing guidance when the right moment calls for it so you never left wondering what to do.

The best photos tend to happen when you forget about the camera and are fully present with each other and the people closest to you.

The rest takes care of itself.
